Registered massage therapist candidate

Bio

Kimberly is a graduate of the Registered Massage Therapy program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria, BC, where she completed 2,400 hours of education and hands-on clinical training. She is beginning her practice at Lagoon Prenatal Wellness by offering wellness massage while awaiting registration, and will then transition into her practice as a Registered Massage Therapist at Lagoon Prenatal Wellness.

Throughout her education, Kimberly developed a particular interest in perinatal care, women’s health, and family wellness. As part of her training, she completed an evidence-informed case study exploring massage therapy for back pain, stress, and overall wellness during pregnancy. This experience further shaped her interest in caring for women throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and the many changes that come with growing a family.

Her clinical training gave Kimberly the opportunity to care for people of different ages, backgrounds, and health needs. She gained experience in clinical assessment and treatment planning, therapeutic and relaxation massage, myofascial techniques, trigger point therapy, PNF, joint mobilizations, lymphatic drainage, hydrotherapy, and therapeutic exercise. Her training also took her beyond the student clinic through community outreach in long-term care, sports and wellness events, and hospital staff wellness programs.

Before pursuing massage therapy, Kimberly worked in healthcare administration and multidisciplinary clinic management. Her time working alongside patients, practitioners, and healthcare teams gave her an early appreciation for collaborative care and for the difference a kind and compassionate healthcare experience can make.

Her interest in women’s health and growing families is also deeply personal. Her own experience navigating endometriosis has given Kimberly a greater appreciation for compassionate women’s healthcare and for the importance of feeling heard throughout that experience. Now married and looking forward to growing a family of her own, she feels especially drawn to caring for women and families through these meaningful chapters of life.

As she grows her practice, Kimberly looks forward to continuing her education in perinatal care, women’s health, and infant and child massage, while continuing to welcome people with a wide variety of needs and treatment goals.

Outside of the clinic, Kimberly loves spending time with her husband, exploring Vancouver Island, being outdoors, and enjoying life to the fullest.
